Aims:
- To improve literacy for learning
- To increase interest in literature
- To sustain the habit of reading for pleasure
Objectives:
- Extend creativity by using drama to boost imagination
- Learn about writers and their motivation
- Develop oracy skills
- Enhance IT and writing skills

Target group: Y10,12 TDA recruit via targeted students writing letter of introduction. Group will meet for project work / take part in off site visits/ support Y3
Affiliated groups: Jumped Theatre/ Sarah Bayliss and Richard O’Neill writers
Staffing: From English, Arts and TDAJ
Grant: €6000 project management ( purchase diaries/ set books etc)

Timeline 2019-2020
January 2019 - launch project to staff and students. Recruit for group work and student exchange
February - project work begins in TDA. Reading surveys DBS checks for prospective host families
March - prepare for student exchange visit to Jihlava 7-13 April 201
April - exchange to Czech Republic to include: writing & theatre workshops/ cultural visits/ logo design/ set book discussion/ writing press releases/ student presentations
May – July project work in own school including: paired work with CZ buddy/ reading project with TDAJ/ training for reading cafés / oracy project input/ planning programme for October
September – 3 day teacher training in Peterborough – integrating drama into English lessons / running reading café, story telling, peer reading
September – prepare for Czech Republic visit to TDA. Confirm programme, transport and host families
October – week beginning 7 or 14th October TDA hosts 20 students and teacher group from Jihlava. International book club / individual research/ project journals / pop up exhibition and tea party/ guest writer in residence/ writing competition/ story telling workshop/ drama workshop – transforming writing into performance/ writing press releases/ cultural visit HP world or Stratford or CD house, pm reading café.
Nov 2019 – Feb 2020 complete project work in own school
March 2020 - teacher training/ final meeting in Jihlava ( 3 days) inc drama seminar/ presentation techniques. Writing final report ( releases final 30% of grant).
