Our Academy has a long tradition of excellence and achievement in sport derived from one of our founder schools, the Thomas Deacon School; in addition our 43 acre landscaped grounds have allowed us to develop unrivalled sports facilities within the local area.
After school we offer a whole host of activities including: rugby, hockey, fitness, badminton, trampoline, table tennis, climbing, rowing, netball, basketball, cricket, gymnastics, tennis, rounders, athletics, and mountain biking. We also organise flagship trips to sporting fixtures such as International Netball and Hockey matches.
Our competitive sports teams and individuals have achieved enormous success at local, county, regional and national level. Our Under 18 Boys Indoor Hockey Team was the only state school team competing in the national indoor hockey finals held in January 2014 at Whitgift School in Croyden. The young and relatively inexperienced team beat the Perse school and Bedford Boys School in regional heats to claim their place in the hotly contested finals. Based on a points system the Thomas Deacon Academy squad is now the highest placed state school in the National League holding current joint 5th place.
