Local Community

As a new school we are tasked with building and maintaining a school ethos that reflects a  diverse community of students, staff, parents, carers and community stake holders who continue to interact positively towards each other. Our students value the investment in their education and staff and parents are aware that there is potential at the Thomas Deacon Academy to really make a difference to our young people’s lives.

Now in our fifth year Thomas Deacon Academy continues to contribute to the local and wider community and as  participation expands we will monitor and review our practice objectively, seeking additional ways to engage students and staff to collaborate, expand their horizons and contribute towards the process of  shaping a cohesive community in the academy and beyond. Many of our students take part in local events and activities throughout the year, they volunteer their time and work collaboratively to fund raise for local and national charities  and their engagement in school and local sport, music, drama, dance, science and engineering and Duke of Edinburgh help to sustain  a broad range of provision for young people across the city.

We are currently developing and strengthening links with new and existing community partners in order to develop a Peterborough based curriculum using  the local community as a stimulus resource and a source of interest and investigation and an opportunity for students to broaden their skills.

For more information about our current  local links see  our Community LInks page.
