Peterborough Schools Track & Field Competition - Thursday 25th June


The Thomas Deacon Academy Yrs 9 and 10 athletics team shine at the Petrerborough Schools Track and Field competition on Thursday 25th June

The year 9 and 10 athletics team represented TDA at the Peterborough Schools City track and field competition on Thursday 25th June and produced some amazing results. The year 10 girls won their competition breaking 3 school records in the process (Annie Cavanagh triple jump, Tierney Augustine discus and the 4x100m squad of Shannon Hodgson, Tierney Augustine, Emily Woods and Annie Cavanagh in the relay).

The year 9 girls finished third overall with some astonishing performances from our sprinters - Jada Daley winning the 100m and 200m finals and anchoring home the relay team to victory. Crystal Wadge finishing second behind Jada in the 100m final. Poppy Richardson finishing third in the 1500m, 1 second away from breaking the school record.

The year boys had some very good individual performances with Amaan Hussain breaking the boys long jump (4.80m) and triple records (10.44m).

The year boys finished 4th overall with only a team of 4 boys. Andre Williams performed well in the sprint finals and Mathew Conroy made it into the hurdles final, finishing third. David Braga finished joint second in the high jump setting a new school record of 1.70m and then went on to win both the long jump and shot putt.
